Estate Planning with You at the Heart

The Heart Behind Heartwood

Hello, my name is Jessica Webb. Before entering the legal field, I served as a Cryptologic Linguist in the U.S. Air Force β€” a role that honed my attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and dedication to protecting what matters most.

After graduating from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2004, I explored various roles within the legal field. It soon became apparent that traditional law firms often prioritized billable hours over achieving meaningful outcomes for clients.

With me, you have a trusted partner who prioritizes your peace of mind and protects your legacy. I call Seattle home, alongside my husband Stephen and our adventurous dog, Blanca.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all. Comprehensive planning is essential for everyone, regardless of age or wealth. Whether you're getting married, buying a home, starting a family, or planning for retirement β€” having a plan in place protects the people and things you love most.

We believe in transparent, upfront pricing with no surprises. Before any work begins, you'll know exactly what your plan will cost. No hourly billing, no unexpected invoices β€” just clear, honest fees that reflect the value we deliver.

It depends on your unique situation. Wills are essential documents for most people. Trusts offer additional benefits such as avoiding probate, protecting assets, and providing for minor children. We'll work with you to determine the right combination for your family's needs.

We recommend reviewing your plan every three years, or whenever you experience a major life change β€” marriage, divorce, the birth of a child, a significant change in assets, or the passing of a beneficiary. At Heartwood Law, we proactively schedule these reviews with you.

Without an estate plan, Washington State's intestacy laws will determine how your assets are distributed β€” which may not reflect your wishes. Your family may also face a lengthy probate process. Having a plan ensures your intentions are honored and your loved ones are cared for.
