Born from
the Energy
of Downtown LA

Metropolis Dermatology was born from a simple but bold idea: dermatology should feel as dynamic, diverse, and forward-thinking as the city it calls home. When Dr. James Y. Wang opened the first Metropolis location in April 2019 — on the 10th floor of a striking building at the intersection of LA Live, the Financial District, and South Park — he wasn't just opening a clinic. He was planting a flag for what premium dermatology could look like: inclusive, innovative, and deeply human.

At the helm alongside Dr. Wang is Co-CEO Alison Deans, a healthcare operations leader who brings expertise in organizational development and operational excellence. Together, they form a partnership equal parts clinical vision and operational excellence — Dr. Wang pushing the boundaries of dermatologic care through advanced technology and evidence-based artistry, Alison ensuring every patient interaction reflects the culture of warmth and excellence they set out to build.

What started as a single downtown location has grown into a family of dermatology centers across California — each carrying the same spirit of youthful urban energy, extraordinary care, and relentless pursuit of what's possible.

We have five convenient locations across California: Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA), Brentwood, Pasadena, Costa Mesa, and San Jose. Each location carries the same culture, quality, and standard of care.

Dr. Wang is a double board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist — trained at Harvard Medical School, UCLA, and Memorial Sloan Kettering. He specializes in lasers, anti-aging skincare, natural-looking injectables, and skin cancer diagnosis, and is a nationally recognized expert in aesthetic dermatology.

We offer a comprehensive range of medical, cosmetic, and spa treatments including skin cancer screening, laser hair removal, body contouring with truSculpt iD, injectables and dermal fillers, anti-aging skincare, hair regrowth, wrinkle reduction, and more.

We're open Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM, Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM. We're proud to offer Saturday availability so great skin care fits into your schedule.
