The Sarasota PT Difference

An old-fashioned, personal approach to care — combined with the most advanced therapeutic technology available.

35+ Years of Expertise

Donna Barcomb M.S., P.T. brings decades of specialized outpatient experience, trained at UCLA and Boston University with internships at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Truly Personal Care

Every patient receives one-on-one attention. We take time to understand your unique condition, lifestyle, and goals — crafting a care plan built specifically for you.

Root Cause Analysis

We don't treat symptoms — we identify the true source of your pain through thorough evaluation of posture, range of motion, and muscle strength.

Advanced Modalities

Class III & IV laser therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, interferential electrotherapy, cervical traction — the latest in evidence-based physical therapy technology.

Spine & Extremity Specialists

Deep specialization in musculoskeletal conditions — herniated discs, pinched nerves, sports injuries, and post-surgical recovery — for lasting results.

Insurance Accepted

We accept Medicare, United Healthcare, Workers Compensation, and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) — making quality care accessible and convenient.

Our Services

Comprehensive outpatient physical therapy treatments — each one carefully selected and expertly delivered.

Initial Evaluation

Initial Evaluations

Thorough evaluation to identify the root cause of pain. Assessment of posture, range of motion, and muscle strength to craft a customized treatment plan.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Sound waves promote healing in soft tissues — increasing blood flow, reducing inflammation, and accelerating recovery from sprains, tendonitis, and muscle injuries.

Interferential Therapy

Interferential Therapy

Gentle electrical impulses reaching deep into muscles and tissues — relaxing spasms, relieving pain, and accelerating the body's natural healing without medication.

Laser Therapy

Class III & IV Laser Therapy

Advanced light technology to relieve pain and speed tissue repair. Highly effective for chronic conditions, sports injuries, and post-surgical recovery.

Static Cervical Traction

Gentle neck stretching to relieve pressure on spinal discs and nerves. Highly effective for herniated discs, pinched nerves, and chronic neck pain.

Balance & Strengthening

Targeted in-clinic resistance training blended with customized home exercises — improving stability, restoring mobility, and preventing future injuries.

Frequently Asked Questions

In Florida, you can often see a physical therapist directly without a physician's referral. However, some insurance plans may require one. We recommend checking with your insurer or calling our office at 941-362-2000 and we'll help you figure out the best path.
We specialize in musculoskeletal conditions with an emphasis on the spine and extremities — including neck pain, back pain, herniated discs, pinched nerves, spinal stenosis, osteoporosis, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, sprains, tendonitis, and balance issues.
Please bring your completed new patient forms (available on our site), insurance card, photo ID, physician referral (if required), and any relevant imaging (X-rays, MRIs). Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows access to the area being treated.
The number of sessions varies depending on your diagnosis, severity of condition, and how your body responds to treatment. After your initial evaluation, Donna will provide a clear treatment plan with realistic expectations for your recovery timeline.
We accept Medicare, United Healthcare, Workers Compensation, and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) for Florida. Coverage varies by plan, so we encourage you to contact your insurance provider for specific details about your physical therapy benefits.
