Our Story
Dr. Emily McLaughlin founded West Magnolia Plastic Surgery in 2004 as the first female plastic surgeon to establish a practice in Fort Worth and Tarrant County. With a vision for a comfortable, inviting atmosphere, she built a practice around care, expertise, and warmth.
In 2017, she expanded that vision with The Retreat — a medical spa connected to her surgical offices in the historic Max Mehl Building (erected 1916). The original honeycomb tile, exposed brick, tin ceilings, and vintage fixtures create an atmosphere unlike any other med spa in Texas.
As medical director, Dr. McLaughlin is always on-site. Whether you come for a HydraFacial and champagne or a comprehensive laser resurfacing treatment, you're in exceptional hands.

Board certified in both general surgery and plastic surgery, Dr. McLaughlin's practice spans cosmetic and reconstructive surgery with special expertise in aesthetic breast and body procedures.
The first female plastic surgeon to establish a practice in Fort Worth, she brings a uniquely compassionate, female perspective to aesthetics. After her own breast cancer diagnosis and reconstruction, her dedication to patients has only deepened.
A graduate of East Tennessee State University medical school and Alpha Omega Alpha honorary, she completed general surgery residency at the Medical College of Georgia and has been recognized nationally for her research and clinical excellence.

EMd is Dr. McLaughlin's private label, physician-formulated skincare line. Products are medical-grade and can be tailored to your specific skin concerns. EMd is available in our Fort Worth office and online. It complements our in-office treatments for optimal, lasting results.
